Panorámica Penyal d'IfacOn the Alicante coast it is outlined the Penyal d’Ifac, a privileged balcony of the Mediterranean Sea. This natural area was declared National Park in 1987 and was the first to achieve this recognition in Comunitat Valenciana. Its 45 hectares make it one of the smallest European natural areas, but one of the most visited with more than 100.000 visitors per year.

Because of its strategic location, it has been used to guard and help defend the coast from invasions throughout its history. In the Penyal d’Ifac it has been found some archaeological sites that show that since the Bronze Age several civilizations were established there. For instance, there is the biggest and the best preserved medieval town’s ruins.

Penyal d'IfacVisitors can enjoy its singular wildlife while they are hiking to reach the rock top through different paths. People who visit Penyal d’Ifac can also go climbing due to its 332 metres high. Moreover, there is a Field Study Centre with a protection and conservation project that includes an environmental education program.

Tourists who visit Calpe should not forget their trainers and have a good time in one of the most important natural area of Comunitat Valenciana.
